Anytime you modify windows you take a risk of screwing things up. It took me awhile to turn things back to normal after i turned off a bunch of startup features and had to reinstall my windows sidebar. There are a couple of ways to try and make vista 32 bit see 4gb of ram. So you must be careful to follow each step and make sure its a trusted site that your following.

you can see it in your task manager it will tell you total physical memory in mb. or you can get a widget for your sidebar that will tell you what you have as well. if I look at my pc info it tells me 4 gigs of ram even though the pc is only using less than 3.5 gigs Sad

Well, I tried the tip and I still showed 3545mb of Ram.   Cry  I disabled the "feature".

I will say, my laptop is pretty speedy for me!  Smiley

so you're only getting 2937 with 4GB installed?

I wonder if the dual core has anything to do with getting more out of the RAM?  I'm not sure, but I think I have the updates to Vista ... maybe that's impacting it?

that is what he was getting before he upped to 64 bit

I have dual core and only get what I said, it has nothing to do with the processer it is the limitation of vista.

I have a dual core processor as well with all of the updates. This laptop is under 6 months old so its current. Which version of vista do you have Home, Pro?

I'm running the Home Premimum version.  I have to find out from Dell, but I am supposed to get a free upgrade to Windows 7 when it releases in the fall.

Hopper, sounds like your machine is pretty speedy as is.  Dual core processors (better yet, Core 2 Duo) will make a pc/laptop run faster.  In essence, it just uses whatever RAM you have faster.
